COVID-19 In Cuyahoga Jail Mirrors General Population

(Cleveland) - Cuyahoga County has released an update on coronavirus positive cases in the county jail, saying the increase in COVID-19 positive inmates is a mirror of how the virus spreads in the general population.

On November 5th, two inmates tested positive. By December 1st, that was up to 30 inmates who tested positive or were presumed positive. These inmates are kept in dedicated COVID-19 units. Other inmates are given face masks. Staff are given PPEs.

Inmates are tested when they arrive at the Cuyahoga County Jail, and immediately go to the dedicated cells if they test positive. Staff members are tested daily.
