6/17/20 Disorderly Conduct

On 6/17/20 at approximately 9:20am RRPD received a call about construction workers fighting on River Lane. On arrival officers found a group of construction workers that had gathered around two of their co-workers that were fighting. Investigation found that the two workers were arguing about the placement of a ladder and that the verbal argument had turned physical. The parties were separated and both men involved, Rodney Baetzold, 52-years-old of Cleveland, and Thomas Restifo, 41-years-old of Cleveland, were issued minor misdemeanor citations for Disorderly Conduct.

6/19/20 Felonious Assault

On 6/19/20 at approximately 11:30 pm RRPD received a call from a motorist who was travelling on Clifton Boulevard at the Marion Ramp and said he had just been shot at multiple times by another motorist. Police were unable to immediately locate the suspect vehicle. During the investigation it was learned that the victim had possibly been involved with a road rage incident and the other vehicle involved drove up next to his car and the front seat passenger pointed a gun at him and fired several times. The victim stopped to call police and the other vehicle continued traveling towards Lake Road. Officers recovered five 9mm shell casings from the scene. No injuries were reported. Detectives identified the suspect as Eli Nieves, a 24 year old male from Cleveland and have obtained a warrant for Felonious Assault.

6/20/20 Assist Fire Department

At approximately 7:08 am while on patrol a Rocky River Officer noticed smoke rising from the back of a residence on Lake Road. The Officer found that there was an active fire at the back of the single family house. Rocky River Fire Department responded and was able to extinguish the fire. It is believed that the fire started when the resident had put embers from a grill in a trash can that morning and was unaware that a fire had started before leaving. No foul play suspected and no injuries reported.
