Bay Village Police Blotter: Tax Fraud and Menacing

On April 30th, 2020 at 5:52pm, a resident from Appleblossom Lane notified Bay Village Police Department to report a fraud. The resident was notified by their tax preparer that a tax refund had been filed in her and her husband’s name. Further that their tax return had already been issued to the scam artist. The victim has made contact with the IRS and the Bay Village Detective Bureau is investigating.

On May 1st, 2020 at 9:43pm, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the 24000 block of Knickerbocker Road for a menacing report. Police arrived and found that the complainant was being harassed by her ex-husband’s girlfriend via text. Police spoke with both parties involved and found that this is a long-standing feud. Police were assured that the threats were made in frustration and were to cease immediately. A report was generated and sent to the city prosecutor for possible charges.
