Bay Village Police Blotter: Theft, Scams and OVI

On April 13, 2020 at 4:53am, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the 23000 block of Russell Road on report of an attempted theft from auto. Police arrived and spoke with the homeowner who reported that she had scared off a person breaking into her vehicle. She described the suspect as a male, 5’5, 130 lbs wearing a white N95 mask and a black and white Adidas bag.Police searched the area but did not find the suspect. Bay Village detectives are investigating.

On April 14, 2020 at 1157am, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the 27000 block of Knickerbocker Road on report of a possible scam. Police arrived spoke with the complainant who stated a construction crew approached him about black topping his parking lot. The complainant stated that he and the crew foreman haggled a bit before deciding against the offer. Police arrived and spoke with the construction crew who stated they were from out of state and looking for business. The construction crew and foreman were advised of the proper procedures for obtaining business in the city.

On April 14, 2020 at 6:26pm Bay Village Police were dispatched to Lake Road to look for a possible intoxicated driver. Police eventually caught up to the vehicle on Columbia Road, south of the railroad tracks and stopped it for a moving traffic violation. Police spoke with the operator, a 46 year-old Westlake resident, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The operator failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. On station, the operator refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. She is facing charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.
