One Dead After Elyria Police Involved Shooting

Carlisle Township - One man has died after a shootout with Elyria Police at a Carlisle Township gas station Tuesday.

Elyria Police were investigating the report of gunshots being fired in the area of Park Meadow Lane. Shortly after the call of shots being fired, patrol officers from the Elyria Police Department located a vehicle which matched the description of the vehicle involved in the Park Meadow incident.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the officers began to give commands to the occupants to exit the vehicle with their hands raised. After a couple minutes the vehicles rear door opened. One of the occupants raised a firearm in the direction of the officers.The officers responded by opening fire on the subjects . Both vehicle occupants were injured.

One of the occupants was identified as 39-year-old DamonBattles from Elyria. Battles was transported to University Hospitalin Elyria for treatment.

The other occupant was identified 39-year-old Isaiah Robinson from Cleveland. Robinson was transported to Lorain Mercy Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Continued investigation into this matter is being conducted by the Lorain County Sheriffs Office and the Lorain Police Department.
