Bay Village Police Blotter: Stolen Watch and OVI's

On May 26, 2019 at 4:54pm, Bay Village Police were dispatched to a home in the 27000 block of Lake Road to take a burglary report. The homeowner reported to police that someone stole his Rolex watch valued at around $20,000 from inside the home. Further, the homeowner suspected that workers from his home-cleaning service were to blame. Bay Village Detectives are investigating.

On June 1, 2019 at 3:26am, Bay Village Police stopped a vehicle on Cahoon Road near West Oakland Rd for having expired license plates. When speaking with the male operator, a 24 year old Lakewood resident, officers suspected that he was heavily under the influence of alcohol. When officers had the male step out of the vehicle, it was found that the male had a loaded handgun on his person. The male was arrested and taken back to the BVPD.Officers also found a loaded shotgun inside the vehicle and other ammunition. On station, the male failed field sobriety tests. He agreed to take a breath test which showed a .151 Blood Alcohol content. The male did have a permit for CCW. The male is facing OVI charges along with felony gun charges in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. He later posted bond and was released.

On June 1, 2019 at 8:53pm, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the area of the 28000 block of West Oakland Road for a possible drunk driver. Officers arrived on the scene and found the suspect vehicle pulled into a residential driveway. Officers spoke with the male operator, a 54 year old Bay Village resident, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The male operator declined to take field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. On station, the male refused to take a breath test to determine his level of intoxication. He is facing the OVI charge in Rocky River Municipal Court.
