Statewide Amber Alert for Ohio Boy and Mother

(COLUMBUS) Authorities have issued a statewide AMBER Alert for a 9-year-old Columbus boy who was allegedly abducted by his non-custodial mother six days ago.

Authorities say Eli Opembe was taken by his  Verona Thomas September 1st around 6:00 p.m. Thomas is believed to be driving a blue 2010 Nissan Altima with a Connecticut license plate number of AB68371.

Eli Opembe is described as 4-foot-10 and weighing 85 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a team soccer jersey with the words "Fly Emirates" on the front and "Ronaldo 7" on the back, along with matching shorts and socks.

Verona Thomas is 5-foot-10 and weighs 140 with brown eyes. Officials believe Eli is "at risk of serious physical harm" while with her.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of either Eli or his mother is asked to immediately call 911.
