Scrapper Killed In House Explosion Identified

EAST CLEVELAND - The woman killed in last Sunday's home explosion in East Cleveland has been identified.

Tracey Christine Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene of the E. 125th Street blast.

Police later discovered that both the 27-year-old Brooks and 51-year-old Craig Kelly, who suffered severe burns, were involved in an illegal scrapping operation.

According to police, the duo was attempting to strip metal off the vacated East Cleveland home.

During the process, so much natural gas built up inside that it blew up.

Five other homes were left uninhabitable by the explosion.
