Women's Air And Space Museum Co-Hosting WWII Plane

CLEVELAND — The Commemorative Air Force Dixie Wing is flying the Douglas SBD - 5 Dauntless to Burke Lakefront Airport on Wednesday, June 13 at noon. This WWII dive-bomber is being co-hosted by the International Women’s Air & Space Museum (IWASM). The SBD – 5 was used in the Battle of the Midway on June 4, 1942, sinking four major aircraft carriers of the Japanese Navy.

The tentative schedule is as follows:

June 13: noon to 5 p.m.

June 14: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

June 15: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

June 16: 9 a.m. to noon

The SBD – 5 pilot will be offering rides over the course of four days. Rides will only be available for purchase as walk-up only. Current rates include: 20 minutes for $995, 30 minutes for $1195, and 40 minutes for $1395.

The public is also welcome to view the plane in between rides free of charge.
