CLEVELAND – Week 5 of the NFL season features 14 games on the docket, with the Falcons, Broncos, Saints and Redskins on their Bye Week. “Picks With Nick” is continuing making selections against the spread (for entertainment purposes only, of course) in both college and NFL football.

Our picks are made against Las Vegas oddsmakers merely helping create football interactions on Facebook and Twitter, as well as online and on-air content for Newsradio WTAM 1100 and WTAM.com.

Similar to last football season, our goal is to win 53% of our picks against the spread. Las Vegas sports books, give us 11/10 odds or -110, so in order to break even in picking games against the spread (ATS) we must win 52.4% of the games we select. Winning 58% of picks ATS would place you among the most elite sports handicappers in the world. We’ll shoot for somewhere between 53% - 58% again this season.

We are again keeping our college and NFL selections separate, but we will update the results weekly with full transparency seeing how we stack up against the Las Vegas oddsmakers. We are coming off a winning first season in which we hit 54% ATS in college football and NFL combined in 2016.

“Picks With Nick” will also feature a radio segment weekly on Newsradio WTAM 1100 discussing our selections.

Below is our full slate of NFL picks featuring four selections ATS for Week 5:

Game: New York Jets vs. Cleveland Browns

Where: Cleveland, Ohio – FirstEnergy Stadium

Kickoff: 1:00 pm ET

TV: FOX

Spread: Browns -1

Nick’s Pick: The Browns being favored against a Jets squad that has reeled off back-to-back wins, including an impressive overtime victory last week against the Jaguars is still mind-boggling to us. Until the Browns prove us otherwise, we will continue to pick against them. Nick’s Pick is Jets +1.

Game: Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Where: Cincinnati, Ohio – Paul Brown Stadium

Kickoff: 1:00 pm ET

TV: CBS

Spread: Bengals -3

Nick’s Pick: Cincinnati is better than their 1-3 record, while the Bills have probably overachieved in opening the season 3-1, including last week’s stunning win over the Falcons in Atlanta. Buffalo comes crashing back to planet earth finally, and the Bengals continue their trend in a positive direction in front of their hometown fans. Nick’s Pick is Bengals -3.

Game: Los Angeles Chargers vs. New York Giants

Where: East Rutherford, New Jersey – MetLife Stadium

Kickoff: 1:00 pm ET

TV: CBS

Spread: Giants -3

Nick’s Pick: These two teams have combined to start the season 0-8. Embarrassing, especially considering who each team has under center at quarterback in Phillip Rivers and Eli Manning. The G-Men finally show up and play to their full potential on Sunday and win in front of the hometown fans. Nick’s Pick is Giants -3.

Game: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans

Where: Houston, Texas – NRG Stadium

Kickoff: 8:30 pm ET

TV: NBC

Spread: Chiefs -1

Nick’s Pick: This should be a fun Sunday night match up between two young and exciting NFL squads. The Chiefs are undefeated and looking impressive, however on a short week going up against a tough Texans defense on the road, this game should favor Houston. Nick’s Pick is Texans +1.
