More Heroin Deaths and Overdoses

(Cleveland, OH) -- The opiate epidemic in northeast Ohio continues to claim more lives. Cleveland police say two people died and four other people were hospitalized during a 24-hour span this past weekend. The victims were not identified.  Meantime, thousands of northeast Ohio church members are heading out into their communities with new awareness of the region's heroin epidemic. More than 500 clergy of all denominations talked yesterday about the drug scourge during services as part of "Awareness Sunday." The campaign was launched by a Brunswick priest who had performed six drug addicts' funerals over three weeks last year.
