(Mansfield) – The suspected killer of a Mansfield woman and possible kidnapper of her baby is dead, having taken his own life after a police chase in Wooster.
20-year-old Dakota Steagall apparently shot himself dead early Thursday morning after a chase that ended near Ohio Route 3 and US 30 in Wooster.
Mansfield Police say that on Wednesday evening, they believe Steagall shot and killed the woman at an apartment complex in that city. The woman’s seven-week-old baby then could not be found, but late Wednesday night, the baby was found to be safe and with relatives.
Police have not said what precipitated the whole situation. Mansfield Police did get a call Wednesday to reports of a man with a gun chasing a woman at an apartment complex in that city.
