Man Arrested In Officer Hit-And-Run Death

(LORAIN) - Cleveland police have arrested a man outside a home in Lorain on East 31st Street, who they believe is responsible for the death of Cleveland Police Officer David Fahey.  Police identified the suspect as Israel Alvarez, 44, and said he was taken into custody on aggravated vehicular homicide and felony hit skip charges.  Police Union President Steve Loomis said an officer driving by a home on East 31st Street in Lorain noticed the white Toyota Camry used in the accident hidden behind a house.

Officer Fahey (pictured above) was struck and killed while responding to an accident this morning around 6 a.m. on I-90 West near Warren.  Police said the driver did not stop.
