(Jefferson, Ohio) - The wife of an Ashtabula County judge is going to prison for poisoning him with antifreeze. Last September, Carla Hague was charged with an attempt of poisoning her husband, Ashtabula County Common Pleas Juvenile-Probate Judge Charles Hague using this chemical. Charles Hague was rushed to the hospital following this incident and acquired an illness from the poisoning.
Carla Hague was given a two-year sentence on Wednesday after she pleaded guilty to felonious assault. Original charges of attempted murder and containing a substance were reduced following her plea.
They've been married for 45 years and Carla notes she thought if she put the chemical in her husband’s drink, Charles would stop drinking it, which court officials said was wine.
She was sentenced to two years in prison, with release eligibility after six months.
