(Cleveland)---The year 2014 marks some big anniversaries for the Indians and Progressive Field.
1994 was the year the new baseball stadium opened at East 9th and Carnegie. It was also the year baseball didn't finish the season because of the baseball strike.
2014 also marks 25 years behind the microphone for beloved announcer Tom Hamilton.
Just before the game got underway against the Texas Rangers Friday night, there was a ceremony honoring Hamilton.
Former Indians skipper Mike Hargrove was among the many Tribe luminaries paying tribute to the Indians' Voice.
Tom Hamilton himself was full of gratitude, and expressed his love for the team, even choking up at one point.
Saturday, Jim Thome will be honored by the unveiling of a statue in Heritage Park, where one of his grand slam home runs landed.
