Parma - Several homes were evacuated in Parma thanks to the strong smell of gas coming from vacant a house in the 3400 block of Maplecrest Road.

Sgt. Kevin Reilly with the Parma Police Department says some homes on Wellington Avenue were also being evacuated.

Once emergency crews gained access, they found the home filled with gas. Someone had stolen the copper piping. The house was ventilated and the gas shut off.
