(Parma) - Police conducted a large search operation for a man who escaped while being arrested.

Mario Wiley of Cleveland was at the Bureau of Motor vehicles on Snow Road when workers ran his name.

Parma Police Sgt. Kevin Reilly says employees noticed the 24 year old Clevelander had an active warrant out for his arrest and they told an off-duty officer who was working security.

The officer arrested Wiley, slapped on the cuffs and started leading him outside to the cruiser. That's when he ran into the woods near Snow Road and Chevy Boulevard.

An extensive search was launched with a Cleveland Police helicopter assisting.

Reilly tells Newsradio WTAM 1100, a witness spotted Wiley running near Kaiser Hospital and called police. Officers responded and arrested him without incident.

Wiley was taken to the Parma City Jail and charged with escape and resisting arrest.
