(Russell Twp.) -Another winter storm is quickly approaching and Russell Township in Geauga County is out of road salt. Russell Township Road Superintendent Gene Layne says he has his guys literally scraping the walls and floors in the dome to see what they can mix with cinders to cover the most dangerous hills in the township.
Morton Salt is the supplier for many cities and townships across Northeast Ohio and many are dealing with the same problem.
Gene placed an order for 200-tons of road salt back on January 15th and has not received it. He says calls and emails have been placed but Morton has not responded.
This has been a rough winter even for the communities in the snowbelt used to getting slammed.
Russell Township residents are now bracing for another storm but this time without road salt.
