(Cleveland) Coast Guard officials overheard marine radio transmissions at about 2:30AM Saturday that a man was stranded on the ice.
They found out that a Frenchville, Michigan fire truck was on its way to respond to a call that an all-terrain vehicle rider was stuck on an ice floe.
The Coast Guard sent its chopper to the area. That's where they spotted the man on the ice floe.
He was dressed in warm clothing, but other than his vehicle had only a GPS and cellphone with him. He was surrounded by open water.
The crew hoisted the man aboard the chopper, and flew him to the Munroe, Michigan airport, where he received emergency medical treatment.
His name is not being released.
The Coast Guard says they will contact him about salvaging his vehicle.
