(Cleveland) - A deal is tentatively done to transfer Whiskey Island and other park land owned by Cuyahoga County to the Cleveland Metroparks system.

Cuyahoga County Council must approve the measure.   cuyahoga county executive Ed Fitzgerald says the county essentially inherited Whiskey Island and that it and other county-owned land on the waterfront would be better-run by the Metroparks.

Fitzgerald says the county is not a park service.  He says the land the county currently operates would be made better accessible to teh public including families if run by the Cleveland Metroparks.
