(Stow) – Two men were burned in an apparent Summit County meth lab explosion.

On Wednesday at 7:55 p.m. the Stow Dispatch Center received several calls on 911 from residents on Mac Drive reporting an explosion at 1442 Mac Drive. The Stow Police Department and the Stow Fire Department responded to the call. Police units were on scene at 7:59 p.m. and Fire units arrived at 8:01 p.m.

A 29-year-old Stow resident and a 28-year-old Middlefield resident were in the home at the time of the explosion. Both of the males were transported to Akron Children’s Hospital Burn Unit for treatment.

Det. Tom Gottas of the Stow Police Department Narcotics Unit responded to the scene along with members of the Summit County Drug Unit. The Drug Unit removed a large quantity of materials from the residence for evaluation.

The residence is a duplex and the other resident of the duplex was not at home at the time of the explosion. The duplex has been quarantined at this time.

No charges have been filed pending further investigation.
