(Cleveland) - The man who drove a dump truck into an I-90 pedestrian bridge March 9 won’t face jail time.

35-year-old Michael Edwards of Warren pleaded no contest Thursday to charges of failure to control and driving an unsafe vehicle. A Cleveland Municipal Court judge then found Edwards guilty. He was fined $300, plus court costs.

Police say Edwards was driving a dump truck with the trailer raised when he hit the bridge in the Collinwood area. I-90 was closed for almost days over a weekend because the bridge had to be dismantled

No one was hurt. The truck, owned by Big Blue Trucking, flipped over.

If the damaged bridge is replaced, it’s estimated to $5 million.
