(Columbus) - The Ohio State Board of Pharmacy Executive Director Kyle Parker announced that Dr. Samuel A. Nigro plead guilty to eight felony counts; 4 counts of Trafficking in Drugs, 2 counts of attempted Trafficking in Drugs, 1 count of Tampering with Drugs, and 1 count of Attempting to Engage in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity.

The Ohio State Board of Pharmacy and the Cleveland Police Narcotics Unit initiated an investigation in March 2009, in regard to Dr. Nigro’s prescribing habits.

As a result of the investigation, it is alleged that Dr. Nigro was illegally prescribing Adderal, Methadone and oxycodone to his patients from his Lakewood and Beachwood offices, and from his residence in Cleveland Heights.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Dan Kasaris accepted Dr. Nirgro’s plea, and a forfeiture of $250,000.00.

Dr. Nigro’s sentencing is scheduled for May 2013.
