(Clevalnd) - The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty's office will now investigate all Cleveland police cases in which deadly force is used.
The city prosecutor's office currently examines such cases, but the county office will take the lead role to determine whether criminal charges should be filed.
The move comes in the aftermath of last November's deadly police chase where suspects Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams were killed when officers fired 137 rounds into Russell's car.
Police say Russell tried to mow them down with his vehicle. Twelve Cleveland Police supervisors are facing departmental discipline in the case.
