(Cleveland)- An internal audit in Cuyahoga County has found $23 million in unclaimed funds.

The refunds are through the court system in criminal and civil cases and in some cases have been left unclaimed for decades.

Executive Ed FitzGerald and clerk of courts Andrea Rocco say they will hire part time workers to review more than 172,000 cases. Refunds range from $10 to $1,000.

You have five years to make the claim. If you don't, the money will be turned over to the county.

If you believe you are owned money, you can contact the clerk's office at 216-443-7952. The county plans on making a website and will personally contact those who are owned money.
