Louisville's Ware Speaks Out About Leg Injury

Louisville's Ware Speaks Out About Leg Injury
Posted April 4th, 2013 @ 9:11am

Louisville reserve guard Kevin Ware is healing following his horrific leg injury in Sunday's NCAA Tournament game.  He had surgery Sunday night for a compound fracture he suffered while trying to block a shot in the Elite Eight against Duke.  Ware says he didn't even realize what had happened at first, then went into "automatic shock" once he did.  Players and coaches were in tears after Ware fell to the ground.

The 20-year-old sophomore had a rod inserted into his leg to help stabilize the bone, which had punctured the skin.  Doctors estimate his recovery time at about 12 months.  Ware plans to travel with the team to Atlanta for this weekend's Final Four.  The Cardinals play Wichita State in Saturday's national semifinals.
